No More Crumbs

There are two kinds of cereal people. I wanted one bag for both.

I’m Vadim Kleyner. I’m an entrepreneur and an inventor, and I run Smartland, a real estate investment firm that started in Cleveland.

The idea came out of conversations with my daughter, our family, and friends. Everyone had an opinion about the bottom of the cereal bag. One camp hates the dust in the last bowl. The other camp thinks it’s the best part. I wanted a bag that could serve both: catch the crumbs so the last bowl pours clean, and let anyone who wants them tear the corner and have them on purpose.

A clear bag of cereal flakes. Below a seal near the bottom, a narrow compartment holds a layer of crumbs.
The working prototype, September 2026. The crumbs end up below the seal.

How it got here

  1. June 2014 I filed the patent application.
  2. 2014–2015 Office actions and an interview with the patent examiner.
  3. December 2015 The patent was granted: US 9,221,584, “Cereal bag with crumb collector.”
  4. 2020 I took it to the major cereal makers and to packaging-machinery companies.
  5. 2026 This campaign.

In 2020 the conversations mostly ended in legal departments, and the answer was some version of “our customers aren’t asking for it.” Fair enough. So this site is where customers can ask.

Cereal dust resting on a horizontal seal line, with crumbs collected along the bottom seal below it.
The seal holds the dust back.
Hands pour crumbs from the small clear crumb compartment into a ceramic bowl.
Or pour the crumbs out on purpose.

If you think the last bowl shouldn’t be a bowl of dust, or you just want the good stuff in one place, tell the cereal makers. It takes one tap.
